While purchasing a cheeseburger, I became the luckiest girl in GR. A tour manager for Maroon 5 approached me and upgraded me to the front row. Yes, I felt Adam Levine's sweat, and I'm going to keep the confetti in my hair for as long as possible. -Hughet
Noooooooooooooooooo! Say it ain't so! To all of my fellow wine-drinking friends, this is terrible. What will we do on weeknights?!
New York Post reports that "a world-wide wine shortage is set to strike because the industry is under-supplied by roughly 300 million cases a year."
In other words, we're downing more wine than vinyards can produce. Apparently, according to the New York Post, wine consumption has quadrupled in the last 5 years in both the U.S. and China.
I'll tell you exactly what happened based on my own personal experience.
1. Work became more grueling.
2. We're getting paid less.
3. Kids got sassier.
4. Wine is now considered a professional adult beverage.
5. Wine relieves stress.
6. Drinking an entire bottle of wine is now pretty common.
7. Wine helps us sleep.
8. I've never heard of a "wine gut."
9. Nobody thinks a wine drinker is dealing with alcohol problems.
10. You get to drink wine out of a fancy glass.
Boom! While there is absolutely no science there, those are the reasons why wine is now super popular. Those are the reasons we now have a shortage, and those are the reasons people will gladly pay more for wine... as long as they can have their wine. We need it.
