Muskegon Heights Will Have School in the Fall

Muskegon Heights Will Have School in the Fall
Posted Tuesday, June 17th 2014 @ 8am  by WOOD Radio News Team

Muskegon Heights appears to have a school system.

Last night, the school board agreed to what its lawyer called a "hybrid" management system.

The Muskegon ISD will deal with the finances, a company called Advance Educational Services will deal with the staffing, and Superintendent Alena Zachery-Ross will stay on to oversee operations, as employee of the District itself.

She thinks this is a progress toward local control of the Charter that has taken over the public school district.

All the teachers will need to reapply for their jobs with the new company.

But, as Zachery-Ross told WOOD TV,  there will be fewer schools, so there will be 10 percent fewer teachers hired.
