One of the most legendary voices in American pop culture, Don Pardo, died in Arizona at the age of 96.

Pardo was the legendary announcer at Saturday Night Live for nearly 40 years before retiring from NBC in 2004.

"I never really left" he told the Associated Press in 2010.

Late Night talk show host and former SNL cast member Jimmy Fallon had said there's "nothing like the moment when Don Pardo says your name."

Born Dominick George Pardo, the Massachusetts native began his vocal career at WJAR in Providence, RI, 1942.

He's is survived by five children.
